After five long years of feasibility studies, research and the sourcing of capital, Jim was able to obtain a brewer's license and purchased a three story building on Waterloo's downtown King Street. After seven busy months, the 145 year-old former furniture factory was converted into a traditional European Brewhouse. On December 18, 1984 the first bottle of Brick Premium Lager rolled off the bottling line. In its first year, Brick's eight employees produced and shipped 35, 000 cases of beer.
